Todas as protagonistas receberam um Emmy, feito somente alcançado anteriormente por All in the Family (Tudo em família) e posteriormente por Will and Grace.

English Version:

Four women with wrinkled faces, showing they’re over 50. Who would say it was going to be a huge hit?

Golden Girls is a 1985 sitcom that run for 7 seasons. It showed interesting and sometimes controversial issues, starting with it’s synopses: four elderly women, some divorced others widows, live together in a luxurious apartment and are sexually active.

Blanche is the flirtatious one. She has a romantic adventure almost every episode. She assumes it and makes no effort to hide it. Dorothy was married for 38 years with a husband that cheated on her frequently until he finally lefts her for a young flight attendant. Now she lives again with her mother, Sophia, who is constantly starting a Sicilian story (her Italian roots) with the phrase: Picture this… The fourth element is Rose. Raised on an orphanage in St. Olaf, a small agriculture community, and lather adopted by a large bizarre family. She’s an widow, who has lots of suns and grandsons. She lives with the traumatic experience of seeing her husband die wile they were making love.

Thanks to this charming characters and a well written script, this four friends chairing their friendship with the audience, were able to discuss their problems in the kitchen table for 7 seasons, over some coffee or some tea with cake.

The series won 11 Emmys and 4 Golden Globes. Each of the main actresses won an Emmy. A feature only preceded by All in the family and lather by Will and Grace.

I believe this to be a good sitcom to watch, indifferently of how many years go by. I’m ready to re-seen it, in spite of being no longer in my something dozen years old. I imagine it will be interesting to see it when my turn to enter my “golden years” arrives.
